This shot is from NYE. Today we have inches of lake effect snow. Life surrounded by the Great Lakes – one day it’s 50 the next there’s a windchill of -10.
I really don’t think I could live any where else.
nobody here but us chickens
I’m stuck in the ballroom for 3 hours today, freezing my arse off. I think the last time I was stuck over there might have been the birth of Random Wednesdays.
Lady Gaga is perfect treadmill music.
Mister has been up since 3. He was a wee bit cranky this morning. Yes, you were. Don’t deny it.
It’s looking like a Chuck E Cheese birthday party this year, the Saints help me. We’ve never done a birthday party for Miss W that wasn’t at home.
I’m somewhat disgusted that the new edition of Huckleberry Finn has removed “offensive” words. I don’t argue that the n word is not offensive. I argue that this PC mentality has run so far amok that we’re now changing classic literature because we’re so terrified of offending people. It’s wrong. No one in this country has the right not to be offended. Changing history to avoid that is inexcusable.
Oh right. Work.
This place makes me sneeze.
Do you really think that it doesn’t bother people when you answer your phone with your mouth full of food?
I’m reading this for my class. It’s interesting. Not the type of crime I usually read about. I’m not sure how to take it so far. It does annoy me endlessly that he consistently says “overstand” in place of “understand”.
New Congress. I’m optimistic and terrified.
Snark and disdain. Snark and disdain.
Gibbs is leaving his post as Press Secretary. Awesome.
Also this.
Early lunches throw my internal clock entirely off.
I’ve never had a pedicure.
Pink paperclip!
Does the IRS think that extending the tax deadline by 3 days will really garner more cash? If people aren’t going to file by the 15th, they probably aren’t going to file by the 18th either.
Today’s Random is shaping up to be a long one.
I don’t know how to do the comment verification thing on the new blog, bunny. If I can figure out how to add it, I’ll put it back, just for you.
It’s not as cold in here as I thought it would be. It is even deader than the last time I got stuck over here.
Windows 7. I’m reserving full judgment, but so far you annoy me.
Ooh, cute skirt, lady!
This gang book. Man. 62 pages in and it’s just all nonchalance “I was patriotic looking out for my homies the set was everything banging was my life and I was proud to do it”. Boggles my mind.
Huh. It’s National Whipped Cream Day.
I wonder what this button doe————–
This chair is making my butt fall asleep.
Why do all these gangsters ride bicycles?
The IT guy across the way is calling for help because his printer isn’t working.
My GPA is so awesome I’ve been invited to join the Honors College. And apparently I’m not too old. I am not clear on why the reward for kicking ass is harder classes … but hey! Priority registration!
boop.
Since we started watching Deadwood I have to resist the urge to punctuate everything with c#cks#cker. I have such a foul mouth.
I could use a nap. This One Stop gig is so boring.
This would have been a lot more fun with a tiara and ball gown.
I’m blowing my nose on Santa Claus. ho ho ho.
Why did I talk myself out of bringing my knitting?
Oh knee socks, how I love you so.
Enough with the fish recipes. I don’t even eat fish.
What? Like you’ve never worn a colander on your head.
Google street view is kind of creepy.
The only thing sitting in the ballroom accomplished was aggravating my bursitis. Pain!
Not going back to Rockville. Not wastin’ another year.
I don’t have any naval gazing thoughts on the year past or on the year to come. Some pretty awesome things happened this year and some pretty heartbreaking things happened as well. I think that’s what they call Life.
Miss W went to her grandparents’ to spend the night so I had many hours to myself today. I drove around my “neighborhood” shooting the countryside. Then I went home and shot my Ruger. I took the ornaments off the tree. I went to the hardware store and bought the picture frame wire I had forgotten. I decided (again) that the quiet is overrated.
It was gloomy and thundery rainy and 50ish today. Which at first seemed like a depressing way to ring in the new year. But I do love a good thundery rain and I decided that it wasn’t so depressing, really. Fluffy snowmannable snow would have been nicer, sure, but it’s Michigan, so you learn not to expect too much in the way of weather cooperation.
All in all, a good day. 2010 draws to a close and I’m still standing. I still have people I love and who love me. And that’s a good place to be.

Miss W had a play date with her “BFF†today. Those girls are nuts! Just like girls all over. Now I’m trying to figure out the new blog location and get things situated. I think we’ll all like it better over here. Eventually. Don’t worry, it’ll be revealed as soon as we fix what got broken 😉
Today’s photo assignment comes from Deb. “Shoot five and make one work.†Arm’s length with the 50mm, here it is. This is “blartsy†or something, right? The title is from Buffalo Tom’s Bad Phone Call off the Three Easy Pieces album.
I’m going to go finish knitting my gauge swatch so I can get started on my sweater. Yes, I’m finally knitting something for myself.
I made pancakes. I like waffles better. No bacon, it was frozen. Maybe tomorrow.
The sky is veddy veddy gray, perhaps it will finally snow. But probably not.
It’s foggy. It’s going to rain.
My internet is only working in 5 minute intervals today.
I have no interest in seeing Black Swan.
If I can’t get this internet to cooperate there may be no Random today. ‘Course, that might not be a bad thing if you ask some blog stalkers …
Maybe I should take a nap.
I’ve gotten very little knitting done this break. I have, however gotten a ton of other stuff done. I don’t think I’m going to manage to get girlie’s bathroom painted though. A woman has to draw the line and relax somewhere.
No. Wait. There is some snow now. A few sad ickle flakes.
I’m going to have coffee with an old friend this afternoon. I’m looking forward to it.
Huh. I actually may not get this posted today. Oh well.
I think I’ll watch some Buffy and knit for a bit.
Nope, Deadwood. And now I’m going for coffee.
I need to find something abandoned to shoot, too, darnit!
I feel the urge to learn more about Wild Bill Hickok. I’m sure it’ll pass.
This is a half assed post. And I’m ok with that. I’ve barely been near the computer all week and it’s been awesome.
I had a lovely late lunch with my friend Jaime. It was so nice to see her again.
I thought of good random stuff while I was doing all that driving but of course now it’s gone. Always seems to be the way, I suppose.
I did find new gloves today, on clearance even. My old ones had a hole in the finger. Not an effective way to keep your digits toasty.
Highlander will always be one of my favorite movies.
Oh Lou Rawls. You always sound like you’re winking at me. You’re so much fun to listen to.
It is true that I have a secret love of the Bee Gees. How can you not shake your booty?
Dinosaur break!
Crispy Crowns. Yum.
Whoever designed vaporizers is lacking all common sense. There is absolutely no way to drain all the water out of them ever. Why wouldn’t you put a plug in a corner of the container for ease of drainage? Who thinks one hole in the middle of the damn top of the thing is sufficient? And then you develop a mildew layer so you bleach the hell out of the thing but it’s stained forever and looks creepy so you just end up buying a whole new vaporizer even though the bleach killed anything in the old one and it’s perfectly fine you just have a guilty what if conscience. Sheesh. I should design new vaporizers.
All thoughts, ideas, etceteras are copyright Jennifer Townsend 2010-perpetuity. ahem.
Well. Laugh. (Hear that in the David Bowie in Labyrinth accent)
I think I’ll make some tea.
Can’t touch me I’m wolverine! Spatula!
Sea Salt Caramels are staring me down.
I don’t make resolutions.
I might have most of Friday to myself. This may call for a solo photo adventure. Hmmm.
Oooh, last Kim Harrison on the way! I love that her book titles are all plays on Clint Eastwood movies. She sent me a signed copy of Dead Witch Walking after some email exchanges over a publishing mistake. Such a cool woman!
Latest Wednesday post ever!
Froggit.
